Question 1
“This might be a very silly
question. But do they celebrate Thanksgiving in Korea? Happy
Turkey Day! ~Laura ”
Answer: Happy Thanksgiving to you
too! Although not exactly the same celebration we have here,
they do have a similar one called "Chu suk." Celebrated during
their harvest season, the festival is also celebrated as a
mark of respect to elders. It is a time for feasting and
happiness for Koreans. Offerings are made of newly harvested
foods. I was in Korea during "Chu suk" one year. The main
freeway was jam-packed with people travelling back to their
hometowns to celebrate with family and friends. Also
during Chu suk, Koreans hold memorial services at the grave
sites of their ancestors. I always loved seeing how Koreans
greatly honor their ancestors and heritage.
Question 2
“I really like Korean
movies. Does YA Entertainment carry any movies?”
~Steve
Answer: We do have a couple of movies and are
planning to do more. Right now we have "Peppermint Candy" and
"Singles." Also, we will release "My Little Bride" on DVD with
English subtitles in early 2007 (starring Kim Rae Won). Then,
the best news is that we will release one of my all-time
favorite Korean movies in March 2007: "Lover's Concerto."
Yeah! Thanks for the
email!
