PR Ambassadors for Korea Drama Festival
The organizing committee of the Korea Drama Festival has named actors Yoon Sang-hyun and Kim Bum (Boys Over Flowers) as PR ambassadors for the 2009 Korea Drama Festival, which is slated for October 1-15 in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province. Yoon played "Heo Tae-jun" in "The Queen of Wives" while Kim played "So Yi-jung" in "Boys Over Flowers."
The two actors will publicize the Korea Drama Festival on various shows and will visit Jinju during the festival to meet with TV drama fans.
Yoon, whose popularity has soared since his appearance in "The Queen of Wives," will attend the screening of the drama's famous scenes on October 13 along with Seon Woo-seon, who played his partner in the drama. He will also tell the audience behind-the-scene stories about the drama.
Kim Bum and his drama partner Kim So-eun, who played "Chu Ga-eul" in "Boys Over Flowers," will attend the Asia Star Night - Boys Over Flowers Special" on October 12 to tell interesting stories about the drama and screen its famous scenes.
The 2009 Korea Drama Festival will kick off October 11 for a five-day run and will include various ancillary events. The main events will be held at the Gyeongnam Culture & Art Hall in Chilam-dong, Jinju.
The organizing committee will hold the 2009 Korea Drama Awards, the Asia Star Night - Boys Over Flowers Special and the 4th Next-generation Actor Competition.
At the regular meeting of the board of directors back in March, former Executive Committee Director Kang Yong-shik became the director of the organizing committee, while Lee Sun-jae was appointed to the post of vice director. Former Vice Director Chang Han-seong now heads the Executive Committee.

Zhang Ziyi sends love to So Ji-sub
Zhang Ziyi, star of "Memoirs of a Geisha" and the Oscar-winning "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," visited Korea on Thursday to promote "Sophie's Revenge" along with Korean co-star So Ji-sub (Something Happened in Bali, Glass Slipper, Delicious Proposal).
Clad in a silky pink one-piece dress and with her dark hair pulled back, Zhang looked every bit the ravishing beauty the world got to know in her debut as the butt-kicking warrior in Ang Lee's "Crouching Tiger."
"I don't want to be the type of woman that's rough-around-the-edges anymore," she said during the press conference at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. (Read more)

Actors to Have Wrinkles'
"If I keep appearing in foreign productions, someday I'll get a chance to debut in Hollywood," says actor So Ji-sub (Something Happened in Bali, Glass Slipper, Delicious Proposal), who is currently appearing in the Korean-Chinese movie "Sophie's Revenge."
At a news conference on August 13, prior to the movie's release, which is slated for August 20, So told journalists that he had gained more experience by filming in China. The actor said he had chosen the movie because he wanted to shed his "tough guy" image and try a lighter role.
In "Sophie's Revenge," So plays a doctor who likes to flirt with women. He betrays his girlfriend, Sophie, just two months before their scheduled wedding, and Sophie, played by Zhang Ziyi, embarks on making him come back.
The movie can be regarded as an entirely foreign production because the majority of the cast and the director are Chinese. It's So's second foreign production after the 2008 Japanese movie "Ge Ge Ge Kitaro." (Read more)

Marries in U.S.
One of Korea’s top actresses has gotten married under tight security in the United States, according to a press release Tuesday. Lee Young-ae (Dae Jang Geum, Medical Brothers), 38, is said to have tied the knot with a Korean-American businessman 16 years her senior living in the U.S., said a spokesman for Dongin Law Group, the actress’s legal consultant. The groom, known only by his last name Jeong, is a graduate of the University of Illinois and an entrepreneur in the IT sector. Only close family members and friends attended the ceremony, according to the release. Lee is a highly influential public figure even though she keeps a low-profile and rarely appears in public or on talk shows. (Read more)

Teams Up with Karl Lagerfeld
Actor Lee Byung-hun (Happy Together), currently starring in the Hollywood blockbuster “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” as Storm Shadow, has joined hands with world-famous fashion designer and photographer Karl Lagerfeld in an ad campaign. Also a renowned artist, Lagerfeld will host a photo exhibition in Japan with Lee as his main model. Slated to open for two days starting on September 9, the photo show will be held at Space O in Tokyo under the title “Lee Byung-hun x Karl Lagerfeld.”
Having teamed up for a Japanese beauty site, www.yamanohada.com, the two men met in Paris in mid-April for a shoot. Lee showed off his chiseled physique in front of Lagerfeld’s camera to produce an impressive set of photos. Lee says it’s been a great honor for him to collaborate with such a distinguished figure, because reportedly Lagerfeld very rarely takes photos of a movie star. (Read more)
