Won Bin: ‘I Almost Killed Myself While Filming Action Scene’
"When I first tried to perform a wire stunt, I had the impression, ‘It is too tough, I should not do this again. I could die while I am filming this action scene.’ The most dangerous moment was when I fought holding a sword in my hand. If I did something wrong even slightly, I could hurt my eyes or my face.” -Won Bin In the production presentation for the movie “The Man From Nowhere,” which was held in Apgujeong CGV on July 8, the main protagonist Won Bin revealed that the action scenes were very difficult for him. In the movie, Won Bin played Tae Sik, who is the former member of a special forces unit and lives alone by running pawnshops. When a girl living next door, who is his only friend, is kidnapped by a criminal organization, he throws himself into the fray to save the girl. Won Bin said that trained to use a gun and a sword three months before filming began. He said, “Action scenes take up a large portion in this movie. I have agonized over how I can deliver my emotion to viewers, the emotions of urgency and impatience to save the girl to the point of giving everything I have.” He explained that he decided to appear in this movie because he was really touched by Tae Sik’s love demonstrated by risking his life to rescue the girl living next door, who was not even his family or his relative. Director Lee Jung
Chul said about Won Bin, “He is soft and delicate. Those aspects are
advantages for actors who have to act with a child. Also, I was horrified
by his expressionless face when he performed action scenes.” More. Actress Son Tae-young shut her Cyworld page due to the fallout form her husband’s involvement in a car accident earlier this month. According to news reports, Son’s husband, actor Kwon Sang-woo, was driving on the wrong side of the road on June 12 and hit a parked car. He then ran into the police car that had pursued him, continued driving and hit a tree before fleeing the scene on foot. Two days later, he turned himself in at Gangnam Police Station. Kwon, who stars in the Korean war film “71: Into the Fire,” apologized to the public once the accident had been made public, but netizens continued to express their anger toward him on Son’s Cyworld page. The personal attacks on the couple were renewed later in the month when Son appeared at a fashion show after the news of her husband’s accident was made public. Jung So-min said that she still gets stuck calling him “Hyun-joong sunbae-nim,” which is the polite way to address her elder. She added that she’s working to meld her character, who is not too bright and chases after her crush (who is her complete opposite), with the character of the original. Playful Kiss airs on September 1. Top star Lee Young-ae (Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, Dae Jang Geum) has announced her pregnancy, which comes one year after she quietly married a Korean-American businessman. A rep with her management company gave the statement that she is treading carefully at this stage and didn’t confirm how far along she is, although her father reportedly said that she is four months along. The rep also stated that contrary to some reports, she will not stop her studies. (Lee is currently working on her doctorate degree at Hanyang University.) Lee, now 39, has kept her personal life quite private and married in secret in August 2009, in a ceremony that took place in Hawaii. She has been quietly attending school in the meantime, and the last time she popped up in the public eye was when she attended a basketball game with her husband in April. Congratulations to Lee Young-ae.
