Transplant Informers, the one-stop source

City Hunter DVD set. Click here
for more information. Here is a short introduction of
what you will find on the TransplantInformers
website: “Since when did becoming a bone marrow donor
translate into Korean Drama heroism at epic levels? Since City
Hunter, that’s when. City Hunter actually depicts a
related bone marrow/hematopoietic stem cell transplant. And the show
portrays it, for the most part, responsibly. From the acting
(especially Lee Min Ho’s tour de force as the eponymous City Hunter)
to the directing, the gorgeous visual palette, and assured plotting,
there’s nary a misstep. This show somehow manages to cram in a
rip-roaring mix of gripping action, heartfelt romance, political
intrigue and a hard nugget of revenge and double crossing, topped
with a light dusting of comedy gold. From start to finish an
entertaining and riveting must-see. But for all the superlatives I
could heap on City Hunter, let’s delve deeper into how this
show uses bone marrow stem cell transplantation in telling its
story. More. |

Review CITY
HUNTER “There's
plenty to like about CITY HUNTER. The first hour of the twenty
episodes is one terrific set-up … CITY HUNTER is one wild ride
through the themes of betrayal, commitment, and redemption ... While
Gotham City had Batman, Seoul has its City Hunter, and he's out to
rid the city of its villains. But what starts out similar to a
strongly cinematic `Batman Begins'-type story quickly evolves into
something vastly more complicated by the relationships … it's a
wonderful mix of action and character that all lead to an explosive
climax … Also, the show boasts some very fine production quality.
Editing is swift, and locations are smartly used in ways that
advance the story and add to some of the show's central mystery. The
writing is top notch … sit back, and enjoy the tiny spectacle that
is CITY HUNTER.” More.

Nami Island gathered 2.3
million visitors in 2011
 Nami Island in Chuncheon,
Gangwon-do (Gangwon Province), where the Korean wave is said to have
originated, recorded its highest number of visitors this year. The number
of visitors reached 2.2 million, 18% of which were foreigners, or around
400,000 people. The explosive interest in Nami Island was largely
influenced by the Hallyu drama Winter Sonata. Two widely known
spots from the drama include the Metasequoia Trail where the main
characters rode bicycles together and the benches they sat on to make
mini-snowmen, both places which are always crowded. Workers on Nami Island
made an un-meltable snowman sculpture similar to the one featured in the
drama on the bench so that visitors can follow what the characters did in
the scene. More. Source:

Stills from Take Care of
Us, Captain
Take a look at a massive
collection of stills from Take Care of Us, Captain, SBS’s new
entry in the Wednesday-Thursday race. It’s up against two promising other
new entries so all eyes will be on the ratings numbers once the three have
made their simultaneous bows. Ji Jin-hee looks awesome (Dae Jang Geum,
Spring Days, Love Letter). He looks completely into character and
charismatic, even in still photographs. Not that we’d expect any less of
Ji, who’s so good when he’s got a good script and cast to work with. Gu
Hye-sun (Boys Over Flowers, King & I) plays a rookie
co-pilot. More. Source:
